In the (Cal) zone!

Hello everyone! This is a quick, yummy lunch for any one who loves calzones! (I do!)  What’s a calzone?

A calzone is an Italian filled oven pizza, originating in Naples, and shaped as a folded pizza. It resembles a half-moon and is made of salted bread dough. Wikipedia

Well, even if you haven’t tried one, you could try this! Here is the recipe!

Bagel (preferably frozen)

cheese (I used Swiss but you could use Mozzarella or White Cheddar or …..)

pepperoni (or salami or ham or bacon or Canadian bacon…)

onions (optional)

butter (optional)

Wrap the bagel in a paper napkin and cook it in the microwave for 10 seconds on full power. Take it out of the microwave and separate the two halves with a butter knife. (you may need to cook it longer depending on which microwave you have) Then pop it in the toaster and cook it until toasted. (I turned the knob to 3 and used the bagel setting but your toaster may be different)

While the bagel is toasting procure your other ingredients.

(Optional, put pepperoni and a few raw onions with a little bit of butter in a cup and put it in the microwave, covered with a paper towel, for 20 seconds. BE CAREFUL IT WILL BE EXTREMELY HOT!!!!!!!!!!! Let it sit in the microwave for FIVE MINUTES then lightly tap the cup. If it is still hot use a potholder to take it out.)

There are four ways to take your bagel out of the toaster: the risky way where you try to grab it with your fingers without burning yourself, the okay way where you unplug the toaster and use tongs to get it out, the safer way where you use cooking mitts to get it out, and the safest way where you wait around for it to cool off. Anyway, once you get the bagel out put your mixture of onions and pepperoni on your bagel, or whatever your using for meat, on the bottom of the bagel first, then put your cheese on next, and after put the bagel top on top. If you want you can put another slice of cheese on top of the bagel like in the picture. Then put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. wait for it to cool off. Enjoy!!!

I’m Having a Total Meltdown!

I’ve created my very first mini recipe! It is very simple and does not require a lot of cooking experience. I hope you enjoy this little umm… ur…  I’ll just call it the Total Meltdown!

The Total Meltdown

Start with a little roll or a small round piece of bread, some deli meat, and a piece of cheese.

IMG_0533Turn the bread upside down so the flat part on the bottom is staring up at you. Then, using your fingers, remove most of the inside of the bread.

After you finish  taking out the inside of the breadie* eat the parts that you just took out of the bread, leaving a hollow breadie,* meat, and cheese on the plate.

*Breadie. a cute tiny piece of bread

IMG_1059Next, insert the deli meat into the breadie until it is full.

IMG_4262IMG_4930Put the slice o’ cheese on top of your creation.

IMG_6421Pop it in the microwave for thirty seconds. Watch it carefully, and when the cheese starts to bubble a little bit take it out at once!

IMG_9282It should look like this when you are done. be careful because it will burn your mouth if you eat it right away, so wait a minute or two.

I hope you will enjoy this!

Cooking times may vary depending on what microwave you have and what type of cheese you use.

Get Creative!

Try to put other things in your breadie like cooked rice or mac’n’cheese!
